The seventh running of the Avignon Motor Festival (March 20-22) celebrated Bugatti’s centenary in style, with around 100 examples of the marque taking part. Many, such as the Type 41 Royale Coupé Napoleon, Veyron and a brace of EB110s (including one of the four prototypes) were on static display only.Other rarities included Ettore Bugatti’s personal Type 56 electric runabout, a Lambert Arcam microcar prototype and an amazing replica of the Citroen record breaker La Petite Rosalie. However, perhaps the biggest highlight of the weekend was the invitation-only Jacques Potherat tour.Among the 55 cars that took in the region around Avignon, including the breathtaking Mont Ventoux, were several Bugatti Type 35s (among other models from the Molsheim marque), a host of Amilcars, plus Rileys, Singers, Aston Martins and Lagondas. Definitely one to watch out for in 2010, with the theme being Red vs Green.
