This year’s Vintage Speed Weekend at Prescott in the VSCC’s 75th Anniversary Year was an event not to be missed. It gathered together unquestionably many of the finest and rarest vintage cars in the UK. A ‘heady’ cocktail of everything from Edwardian aero engined specials, a mouthwatering variety of Bugattis, pre-war Brooklands competition cars, including the mighty Napier Railton, to humble cycle cars and Austin Sevens.
Marques that conjured up intrigue, curiosity, and wonderment, such as Brasier Voiture De Course, Theophile Schneider, Piccard Pictet Special, Fafnir Machtigen Werke, Hispano Suiza Alphonso XIII, Menasco Pirate, Djinn JAP Hillclimb Special, to name but a few. Yes, it was Vintage Prescott at its very best and that was just on the competition side.
The huge gathering of visiting pre-war cars in the Orchard was as equally marvellous, and mustered a stunning display of Talbot’s to coincide with the Talbot Owners’ Club 75th Anniversary celebrations. Retired airline pilot Delphine Gray-Fiske’s Ford Mercury powered 1937 Jensen cabriolet never fails to attract great interest, especially finished in its most attractive two-tone colour scheme.
Simply everywhere you looked there were cars to interest and excite, and maybe not enough time to linger for too long for fear of missing something as there was so much to see! This is a ‘must do’ event for any self respecting vintage car buff!
