Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue kicks off the Monterey Week in some style.
Open to the general public, the Carmel-by-the-Sea attracts some of the best vehicles in the classic car world. The undoubted star of the Concours was Jon Shirley's 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. This is the model that won Le Mans in 1958, 1960, and 1961, has additional race history and competed in South America, too.
Ocean Avenue was lined with thousands of enthusiasts who enjoyed the spectacular line-up of hundreds of cars in the beautiful and exclusive Carmel-by-the-Sea setting. The real attraction of this event was that it was open to all and the owners were on hand to discuss and explain their classic cars in detail to the spectators. An egalitarian, yet classy prelude to the world-class Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance following on the Sunday.
