The first weekend of the New Year saw new boys Hollywood Wheels pitch up at Fort Lauderdale (previously associated with Kruse) and immediately break a Cobra record.
Kruse fired back with an auction just 25 miles away in Boca Raton, but that event posted only 34% sales (for $ 6.7m). Hollywood Wheels grabbed the headlines with its Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. Finished in an unusual gold colour scheme, the S/C was the feature car of the show.
S/C (Semi-Competition) cars are generally second in value only to the competition roadsters, although the Daytona coupes sell for much more. The final price of $ 3,780,000 (£2,600,000) was a major success.
