The C-X75 concept, unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor show, will go into full-scale production - with a little help from the Williams F1 team.

First seen at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, Jaguar's technical tour de force - the C-X75 concept - is readying for production, and is said to go on sale sometime in 2013. Jaguar has formed a partnership with the Williams F1 team, which will provide the car with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This highly advanced engine will power most of the 250 road-going C-X75s, leaving the intriguing gas turbine system seen in the show car available to only a lucky few.

The 1.6-litre Williams-developed engine is related to the F1 engine the team is developing for the 2013 season. It is said to rev to 10,000 rpm, and along with the two electric motors will produce around 900bhp. It will directly drive the rear wheels, with the electric motors sending power to whichever wheel has the most grip available, using a torque-vectoring system.

The lightweight carbon fibre chassis will help to keep the weight down, and Jaguar claims the supercar will do 0-60mph in less than 3.0 seconds and 0-100mph in less than 6.0 seconds, hitting a top speed well in excess of 200mph. As well as being incredibly fast, the C-X75 can also be relatively green. Running in economy mode, the hybrid car will emit just 70g/km of CO2 and it can also run on battery power for up to 30 miles, with the option of plugging into the mains to recharge the lithium-ion batteries.

Williams F1 boss, Sir Frank Williams said: 'This association with Jaguar Land Rover provides us with an incredible opportunity to work with one of the world's most iconic brands. Williams has always considered itself an engineering company so this project will allow us to create something truly exceptional.'
