Whenever I read Letters to the editor in some magazines, people complain about the relevance of the Lamborghinis, the Enzo Ferraris and the SLR McLarens: no-one can drive these things quickly, so what’s the point of having them?
The Milton Robson collection is a long-term labor of love that grew to the point of displacing Robson's prized stable of cutting horses from their 48-stall barn on his 460-acre farm.
The collection, started in 1967, houses some of the finest and most-desirable American automobiles ever produced, and represents the 'best of the best' when it comes to American Muscle. Mr. Robson’s stunning collection will be up for sale by RM Auctions on 13 November 2010.
Featured highlights of the sale include a trio of Pontiac GTO Judge Convertibles, including a Starlight Black ’69 Judge - one of only five equipped with the top-level Ram Air IV V8 and a four-speed transmission, which is estimated to sell between $ 750,000 and $ 1,000,000. Also for sale will be a one-of-a-kind, supercharged 1953 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible; and a 1934 Ford Roadster.
After many years of enjoying his collection with his family and friends, Milton has begun to travel and spend more time in Florida, in addition to tending his beautiful Georgia estate. While the cars have indeed been a big part of his life for several decades, Milton has decided that it is now time for someone else to own and enjoy them.
The Milton Robson Collection event will be held on 13 November 2010 at the Robson Estate in Gainesville, Georgia. For further information and event details, please visit www.rmauctions.com or call +1 519 352 4575.
