The Tour Britannia race for pre-1976 cars has received almost twice as many entrants as last year.

The record number of 76 is a huge improvement on the 42 2006 participants. Although applications for the 2007 Tour Britannia are now closed, the organisers are continuing to accept late entries until August 13.

The Touring-Regularity category has also seen an increase in applicants, more than double the previous year's at 24, which will compete for the David K Williams Trophy.

The Tour Britannia, which has been running for the past two years, attracts a variety motoring enthusiasts, with entrants competing in anything from Minis to Ferraris. The race begins on September 3 and those seeking more information or late application should visit http://www.tourbritannia.com
