  • DESCRIPTIONSTEVE MOAL'S CALIFORNIA SPEEDSTER" We are proud to offer Steve Moal's personal 32 highboy hot-rod roadster. Steve Moal, one of the nation's premier motoring metal smiths, built the Speedster in the mid 90's as his personal car. This car is truly a masterpiece of the coachbuilder's art. He started with a modified Brizio chassis which was stretched four inches to 110" moving the traditional front suspension forward. The 454 Chevy engine is blueprinted & balanced by Cub Burnett and tuned by Tom Walsh. The 500 horsepower, achieved by a Competition Cam camshaft, an Edelbrock carb & manifold combo, Lem Tolliver headers and an MSD ignition system, is connected to a Borg Warner four speed going to a Hallibrand Champ quick-change rear with 3.08 gears. By Mr. Moal's own admission, this highboy is evolutionary, not revolutionary". Therefore he combined the evolutionary with the traditional and opted for a Wescott production body. To quote Steve from StreetRodder magazine, April 1995: These people make it easy for us. The bodies are well made, accurate in every detail and, quite frankly, saved me at least 2 more year's work in body fabrication". The top, however, is hand formed aluminum over a steel support frame. The deck lid with riveted steel supports with integrated steel rain gutters is formed from aluminum. The hood is aluminum as well, lengthened by 4", and slightly peaked. The rocker panels are fully integrated aluminum and the mirrors are custom made from sheet brass. The interior sports magnolia leather seats and doors, done by Sid Chavers. The burgundy carpeting is by Wilton. The steering wheel is hand laminated mahogany. The custom made gauges (tach, fuel, temp and trip) are inscribed by Steve's father George of Mo-Ma Manufacturing. The specially made wiring was done by Roy Brizio. The car has so many custom details that a description will not do it justice. The California Speedster was on the cover as well as the featured car in the April 1995 issue of StreetRodder magazine. Own a piece of hot-rod history built and owned by one of the premier hot-rod builders in the world. Open to sensible offers. - This 1932 Ford Hi Boy Roadster features a 454 V8 cyl engine.
