  • DESCRIPTIONIf you've ever tried to take your family with you in your highboy roadster or your 3-window coupe, you know why beautifully turned-out sedans like this '38 Chevy Master Deluxe are the fastest-growing segment of the rodding hobby. This one was professionally built at a cost of over $145,000, and you won't find a nicer rod of any body style than this one. The streamlined look of the Master Deluxe perfectly captures the art-deco movement of the late-30s, and when treated to a modern paint job like the shimmering, icy PPG Silver Star on this one, it looks positively spectacular. Professionally built by Dixie Dream Rods, every square inch of the bodywork has been smoothed and perfected in preparation for that gorgeous two-stage urethane paint. With four doors, it's twice as challenging to get everything to line up properly, but this one fits right and seals up tight, and nothing sounds like these vintage doors closing with a precise click. The original design is almost entirely unaltered, and includes those beautifully rounded fenders, wrap-around grille, and slashing body line that stretches into the front doors. Detailing is exceptional, from the door handles that are perfectly horizontal to the teardrop-shaped fuel filler door that fits flush. This four door shines inside, where a sumptuous gray leather interior provides modern luxury car trimmings with a traditional bent. The front seats were borrowed from a Buick LaCrosse and look right at home in the old Chevy, with a rear bench that was upholstered to match. Beautiful carpets were stitched together and bound in matching gray vinyl, with door panels sculpted to emphasize the car's flowing lines. Dakota Digital gauges have been fitted into a custom billet instrument panel flanked by the controls for the Vintage Air A/C system. Of course, no custom is complete without a matching billet and leather steering wheel, tilt column, and a thumping stereo system by Sony, Pioneer, and Power Acoustik. And the fully upholstered trunk will hold a weeks' worth of luggage for the whole family. Since it was built to cruise, this Chevy packs a reliable ZZ3 crate motor, augmented with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, a serpentine belt system, and Hedman headers. There are a lot of polished and chrome components under the pointed hood, and extra care was used to keep plumbing out of sight. A big Walker radiator with electric fan keeps it cool, and it includes power steering and brakes for driving ease. Fatman Fabricatrions supplied the chassis, including the Mustang II style front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering. A 700R4 4-speed automatic makes for easy cruising, and the Ford 8-inch out back uses 3.50 gears to great effect. Billet Specialties Qualifier wheels are staggered and wear 215/60/15 front and 235/65/17 rear Kumho radials. Look at the quality, look at the components that went into the build, and think of what you could do with this car. What better way to see the country than from behind the wheel of this awesome Chevy. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
