DESCRIPTIONThey're called "street stretchers," and if you're looking for a cool way to move your collector car around, you won't do better than this awesome 1938 Ford with a heavy-duty Chevy commercial frame underneath. Ford trucks were all-new in 1938, with a handsome barrel-shaped grille and flowing fenders that made them look elegant as well as rugged. This one retains all its original good looks, now augmented with traditional hot-rodding techniques such as a louvered hood and stylish red pinstripes that accentuate the art-deco shape. The body was well restored by experts, and the black finish has a soft vintage gloss that looks right on the 75-year-old bodywork. Tinted glass and a 1-piece windshield give it a slightly modified appearance without altering the basic design, and the large side-view mirrors are not only functional, but give the truck a purposeful look. Out back, a full-sized aluminum bed will carry anything that'll fit. Several handy storage compartments will hold tools, tie-down straps, and other equipment necessary for life as a working truck. 1938 is long gone inside, where the original bench and rubber floor mats are replaced by sumptuous leather buckets and an array of creature comforts unheard-of in 1938. Things like A/C, cruise control, and a tilt wheel make this truck ideal for long-distance hauling, as well as power steering and brakes, so it's easy to handle on the street. A full array of Auto Meter gauges fill the original dashboard, and the leather-wrapped banjo-style steering wheel looks appropriate beside the Lokar floor shifter. There's also a powerful Kenwood AM/FM/cassette stereo system that sounds great. Underneath, it's a 1990s Chevrolet heavy-duty chassis, complete with a 454 cubic inch V8 up front, a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and 3.70 gears out back, which allow for easy highway cruising with decent fuel economy. With about 19,000 miles since it was built, everything is fully sorted and functional, but not worn out. The big block is a tight fit in the narrow Ford nose, so the accessories were mounted tight to the block and up high, so everything is easy to service. New wiring, fresh hoses, and a lot of OEM equipment also add reliability to a truck that has to be at the top of its game at all times. The chassis is as the factory intended, with no hot-rod modifications or alternations to accommodate the Ford cab, so the suspension, brakes, and frame are all OEM-spec for safety. It appears to have been properly serviced and quite clean underneath, with no signs of abuse or winter weather use. The finishing touch is six Alcoa aluminum wheels wearing LT235/85/16 radials. This super cool truck is ready to work or play, and there's no better rolling advertisement for your business than this. You couldn't build this truck for the asking price, and if you've priced ramp trucks recently, you know this one represents a screaming bargain no matter what you plan to do with it. Call today!
