• DESCRIPTIONThis is an original G-Code 406ci 405hp Galaxie 2dr Club Sedan, widely known as a "Box Top". The car features the "Thunderbird Special" engine with 3 Holley 2 barrel carburetors, a Borg Warner T-10 close ration 4speed transmission mated to a 9" Ford Traction Lok rear end and 4.11 gears. This super power plant features 11.4:1 compression, a solid lifter camshaft, factory cast iron headers & 448 lbs of torque. The 62 Galaxie was Fords choice to compete in the NHRA A/FX class. This car was the production (homologation) version of Fords first, all out effort in the Super Stock wars. This production version is the real deal and a must have for serious muscle car enthusiasts... The photos show floor hooks on the floor in the rear where racing seat belt would be. The "Do Not Lean" stickers on the front fenders were used in the lightweight racing version of this car where the fenders were aluminum. They would dent like a beer can if you leaned on them. This car is the real street production version of that A/FX lightweight and has undergone a frame-off restoration to its original factory correct condition. It is finished in factory Wimbledon White with Mist Green interior. The chrome and trim looks like new. The body is perfectly straight and all panel line up as they should. The interior is in exceptional condition. Front and rear seats, dash & dash pad are completely original with literally zero ware and no tares or cracks. Carpet and headliner are new. All correct factory marking are in place under the hood. The car starts, runs and drives flawlessly. The mileage reads 78750 and we will certify that as actual. All gauges work as they should. Upgraded American Racing Torque Thrust wheels were added for a period correct look. This is an incredible example of an early 60s Super Car that ate up the quarter mile with one of Fords rarest and most desirable drive-trains.
