DESCRIPTIONIf you've dreamed of Hemi power but don't like six-figure price tags, take a closer look at this classy 1971 Dodge Challenger. Restored to its original GA4 Light Gunmetal Metallic, the reserved color separates this E-body from its High Impact siblings and offers a more sophisticated take on a classic body style. With no stripes present, the body is accented only by a vinyl top, chrome door handles, a chrome gas cap and chrome sport mirrors. Between the fenders, a 465hp 426 Hemi crate engine provides plenty of motivation for the midsize coupe. Stuffed with goodies like a forged steel crank, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam the cast iron block is topped with a dual plane aluminum intake, cast iron heads with steel valves and a Holley four-barrel carb. Despite the huge upgrade, the bay looks little more than lightly modified thanks to a host of correct pieces such as a voltage regulator and era-correct windshield wiper motor. Breathing through cast iron manifolds, turbo mufflers and factory-style resonators, the motor fires immediately and sounds awesome. Behind the Hemi, an A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transfers power to the Dana 60 differential out back. Around the drivetrain, a stock suspension retains its torsion bar/leaf spring configuration. Steering is power assisted as are the four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes. Seventeen-inch Foose wheels top off the package. Inside, a restored H6X9 black vinyl interior looks showroom fresh with high bucket seats, a center console and rally gauges with 150 speedometer, tachometer and electric clock. Ready to experience one of the hottest creations of the muscle car era? Your challenger has arrived.
