DESCRIPTIONStk. 1792 1972 MG B Next to an original Mini, I would say that the second most endearing British sports car has to be an MG. The company was founded in 1924 by Cecil Kimber, an employee of William Morris; who went on to buy the company, hence the name... Morris Garages. Production of the MG B model began in 1962 which was created as a more modern and comfortable interpretation of the previous MG A model and its predecessors. It was produced 10 miles south of Oxford, England in Abingdon for total run of 18 years and approximately half a million cars until the plant closed their doors. Our car which has been owned for some twenty-eight years by our consignor has been repainted only once, seven years ago. Looking very British in Forest Green with matching medium green convertible top and black interior, this B is very stylish to say the least. Rostyle alloy wheels and a nifty luggage rack on the boot lid make for an especially attractive and functional machine. Attention toward revitalizing the interior at the same time was vital. Green nylon loop carpeting with custom teal edges establish a custom air within the cockpit. It's like new dash board houses a full compliment of legible Smiths gauges that look as factory fresh as the day they left Abingdon. Fire up its rebuilt original 18V motor that features a pair of desirable SU carbs and feel the thrum of its five bearing crankshaft go to work. Slot the synchronized transmission into first, lift off of the clutch pedal and feel 95 horses and 110 lb/ft of torque propel you forward in a most spritely manner. It is most unfortunate that they no longer manufacture these automobiles new any longer; but with a wonderful example like this available, you still have a chance to fulfill the opportunity of ownership and the joy that comes from some good old fashioned open air motoring.
