DESCRIPTIONI recently sold this car. Loved it for the 2 years I had it. It sat on a purpose built chassis with only a couple of pieces welded in to get the 1966 VW Bug VIN number. It was very well balanced and drove like the real deal, except with some more power from the 2 litre engine. It had no frills, without power steering or power breaks, roll up windows, door locks or any other modern conveniences. It was built by Vintage Speedsters in California and I bought it through Park Place. The car had all the desirable options vintage speedsters offers: wooden derringer steering wheel, fitted porsche floor mats, 2 litre engine upgrade, bumper guards front and rear, head light grilles, all correct porsche emblems, and side screens. I invested $2500 in a serious 600 watt stereo so you can drive 70mph with the top down and still hear your tunes crystal clear. The alpine head unit and sub woofer are hidden under the dash with the speaker pods housing Hertz mid range speakers and tweeters, covered in the same carpet as the car, so when you stand next to the car you do not see the stereo and the original look is preserved. The Alpine amplifyer is located in the trunk in front. This is a great way to own a Speedster that is as reliable as if you bought it new yesterday, for about 20% of the price of the original. I would love to keep driving it, but need to make room for a new classic in my garage. Call for additional information or a test drive. i can assist in arranging transport for the new owner.
