DESCRIPTION"MIDGIE" is the name of our 1968 MGB/GT...I've owned the car since May 1975 - bought it when I was working at a sports car restoration shop while going to Michigan State. The car had come from California - had 50k miles on it when I bought it - now has 79k. I drove Midgie as a daily driver for 2 years - since then she's been driven occasionally - stored inside. While the MGB/GT was great fun to drive in the winter / very 'toss-able" & easy to play junior rally driver - not to mention very weather-tight & great heater - the ravages of two Michigan winters took their toll on the rockers - and a minor front end shunt with a Mustang. Mechanically, she runs strong - sounds great with an "MG Mitten" header & Ansa-style performance exhaust - electrics have proven to be quite reliable too. The sports car mechanic that used to maintain her in East Lansing said that Midgie was the most powerful stock MGB he'd ever driven - guessed she was running with slightly more h.p. than stock (98 h.p.) - hence the 105 h.p. claimed. Midgie was driven to race weekends at Mid Ohio Sports Car course, Waterford Hills, and Michigan International Speedway - two people + cooler, tent, sleeping bags & other small camping supplies - all managed to fit in the MGB/GT's hatchback. I doubt I'll ever part with this car - we've been together 35 years now - and I look forward to doing some of the work myself & getting her restored to her former glory - just as she looked when I bought her in 1975...and then enjoy driving more country roads & taking future adventures!
