In 1998, one of mechanics from our Ferrari dealership, now working out of his house, claimed he made money on restoring two MGA's. I was intrigued with the concept of building an electric car that didn't resemble a golf cart, by converting a common British sports car. An enthusiasts in California has been driving a battery powered MGA successfully since 1978. And the US Advanced Battery Consortium was spending $260 million developing advanced battery technology. Perhaps we could buy derelict MGA's and convert them. Don't ask about the business plan- how many sports car fanatics want a slow, sexy car? Lots of big manufactures from the Cord L79 of 1930 to GM's anemic Fiero's have attempted to capture this market, so it must exist.
