DESCRIPTION1968 Mercury Cougar Trans-Am RepliRacer in correct red & grey racing colors and decaled exactly as raced by Dan Gurney and his All American Race Team in late 1960s. Professionally built to the highest standards by Barry's Speed Shop on the Wrecks To Riches television show and signed on the roof by Dan Gurney. Completely street legal, can also be used as a track car or vintage racer. The 302 engine was hand assembled, balanced, blueprinted, and professionally built by Competition Engine Development using a factory new Ford Motorsports block with aluminum heads, 10.5:1 pistons, roller hydraulic Ford Motorsports cam, dual Edelbrock 500cfm carbs, an aluminum intake manifold, 8-quart oil pan, electronic ignition, and headers exiting correct trumpet-style side exhausts. Fires right up, runs on premium pump, and there are no mechanical issues. Has a deep very aggressive exhaust note and feels like a race car with instantaneous & explosive power. Pulls HARD through the rev range but really comes alive past 4000 RPM; feels like 400 horsepower. The Tremec 6-speed transmission shifts perfectly and a has a heavy-duty hydraulic clutch. The Ford 9" heavy-duty positraction Currie rearend has 4.10 gears which provide neck-snapping acceleration in first, second, & third, but the long 6th gear overdrive still permits relaxed 80 mph highway driving. Four-wheel Baer disc brakes with adjustable front/rear proportioning valves and huge vented cross-drilled rotors. Global West suspension with their dual-wishbone control arms, large sway bar, coil-over adjustable springs with threaded collars, and Carrera adjustable billet shocks. Everything is new with fewer than 400 miles since completion. The interior has been gutted and race-prepped with dual racing buckets and a full cage. Cougars & Mustangs are unibody cars and the cage acts to stiffen the chassis and also as protection in the event of a high-speed incident. 5-point racing harnesses for weekend competition use. Black face Autometer gauges for speedometer, tach, oil pressure, water temp, volts, and fuel level. Perfect all steel body with no dents, no dings, no waves, and no signs of rust or damage ever; always a southern California car. Extremely nice red & gray paint done in Gurney's paint scheme and with his racing number on the doors & hood. Hide-away headlights open & close manually and the head & tail lights along with the turn signals & brake lights all work properly. The trunk contains a competition approved fuel cell which is wired to the gas gauge and electric fuel pump. A competition required electric cutoff switch is concealed behind the rear license plate frame shutting off all power from the trunk-mounted battery. Excellent glass and both side windows operate smoothly. Torque-Thrust wheels fitted with high performance low-profile radials. Dan Gurney's autograph on the roof. Excellent undercarriage; clean & shiny; never driven in wet conditions. Just professionally detailed and hand waxed; runs & drives perfectly; and turnkey ready for cruises, shows, and fun driving on the street and race track. Truly a street-legal road race car.
